Kitchen Hidden Storage Hacks

Let’s maximize your kitchen space.   Here are some suggestions.  Install a tip-out tray and turn the panel under your sink into a space-saving storage nook for brushes, soap, SOS pads, and sponges.  It is the easiest remodeling trick for the kitchen.    A pull-out cutting board was once a standard kitchen item, but that trend has since faded away in modern kitchens.   However, a modern pull-out cutting board with an opening over a pull-out trash can be beneath is an awesome clean-up idea.

Tired of digging through cabinets with pots and pans stacked on top of each other?   Rolling drawers behind the cabinet door are a great way to keep cookware and appliances out of sight and organized.  Organize bulky cooking equipment efficiently.  Instead of a complete backsplash throughout the kitchen, why not install recessed shelves, like in the shower?   Between the studs, by hollowing out space, you can create shelving space.   Near the stove for spices or near the coffee pot for mugs.

Rather than those plastic pre-molded utensil organizers, use individual boxes that you can arrange yourself, a set of expandable drawer dividers, or an adjustable divider system to customize your drawer space.  Organizing your utensil drawers will not only make it easier to find the utensil you want but also give more space.

Want to keep your snacks easy for the young ones to get on their own? Consider adding a snack drawer.  Add drawer dividers, bins, and baskets to keep items separated and neatly organized.   Also, creating a drawer for them to get their cups, bowls, plates, etc.  Again, you can use drawer dividers, bins, or baskets.  Using clear storage bins in the cupboards and drawers, along with turntables and can risers, will add to your space and allow you to easily see what you have and not have to dig through your cupboards to find what you want.

Add some extra counter space to your kitchen with a portable island. This solution is perfect for smaller kitchens that can’t accommodate the size of a built-in island. To maximize island function, consider applying storage add-ons, like a wine rack, hooks, or a towel rod. Additionally, get rid of your knife block and install a magnetic knife holder. Then, line up your cutlery from biggest to smallest, including everything from a butcher knife to a paring knife. Choose a wall with substantial open space, such as the area below cabinets, so you can easily access your cutlery when it’s time to cook.

Besides organizing cutlery, don’t forget the under-the-sink storage. Use clear containers to hold cleaning supplies like sponges, brushes, and dishwasher pods. Tension rods are also a great way to hang bottles and sprays.

To make mornings easier, set up a coffee station.  Dedicate a drawer next to your coffee maker to hold filters, coffee beans, and travel mugs, so brewing a fresh pot is a one-step task.  If you don’t have a drawer to spare, consider a countertop pod organizer instead.

After addressing your countertop and under-sink storage, consider how to handle larger cookware.  Pots and pans are bulky and often hard to store efficiently. Hanging them above a kitchen island or on a wall ensures easy access without disrupting your kitchen’s flow.

This kitchen organization idea will help streamline your space and free up cabinet space.  To further maximize your kitchen’s storage potential, turn unused space—like the roomy spot over your sink—into extra storage, add a shelf.      These spots can be a great place to store items you don’t need every day, like wine glasses and champagne flutes.  Open shelving is a pretty and practical kitchen organization idea to utilize wall space.  Line the shelves with cookbooks, displays of attractive serving bowls and dishes, or stemware.
